Gimnazjum W.St. Reymonta Wiaczyniu Dolnum is located at the borders of a big city and a Landscape Park in Lodz, Poland. There are about 200 students from different backgrounds.
Students start learning English at primary school. The subject is obligatory. Even though they commune with English for several years their language skills are really poor. Spoken English is often on a level that makes communication in this language impossible. Although learners are surrounded by English- songs, computer phrases, films, YouTube, they cannot use English as a tool of communication.
Facing such problems teachers of foreign languages participate in different courses. They look for methods and approaches to solve the problem or to diminish it. Apart from the methodology courses, the teachers were involved in Erasmus+ project (2014-2016)They took part in foreign trainings aiming at improving the effectivness of learning-teaching process. Our school took part in a Comenius project (2010-2012). The project had a big influence on students, their language and communication skills.
